Here's the story of this knife and of the owner's own personal interest in balisongs:

Two years ago, for whatever reason, I had a flashback to the days when I
managed a cutlery store down in southern California.....and met a guy named Jeff Imada and another guy named Les deAsis at a small knifeshow. I met 'em because of the noise Jeff and a couple other guys were making at their table....showing off balisongs! This would have been in 1981 or so.

One thing led to another, and I got the store owner(s) enthused about
balis, so we bought some from another guy (real nice guy) named Ken
Largin. We ordered a couple of customs from Bali-Song but didn't get 'em
until all the packaging said Pacific Cutlery on them.

I got pretty good. I bought most of the quality balis we sold for myself,
and sold the Taylors, Valors, and Gutmann's to the customers (thus not
learning that they, too, had quality).

My tastes changed, I got rid of the knives, and now we're back to my
flashback! I searched eBay and found a certain person (well known to many
of us balifanatics) who I bought a used BM239 from. I beat it up big time
(buying many more balis in the meantime), until the handle play was too
great to ignore.....SO.....I decided to use Clay's "mashing" technique
w/the large bench vise here at work.

Did a great job....cracked the handle on the safe side all the way through at
the pivot pin! Now i had a GREAT blade - thick like I like 'em - w/a
busted handle!

So - in the forums shows up this guy ChuckG that a lot of us had seen
around eBay and whatnot. He first says "I'm NOT Gollnick", then he says -
"I rehandle the 200/300 series BM balis"! I did some checking around -
Sniperboy (of course) had already been in touch with Mr. Griffin and sent
me some pics that he had sent the Snipe. Then ChuckG himself sent me a
bunch of pics.

Now - I really wanted a 3" custom weehawk Tanto to go w/the 4" version that Sniperboy had found for me. ChuckG said he'd make me one (w/brass
handles), but before I committed that kind of money (this would be an all
custom knife, and more expensive than a re-handle) I wanted to handle his
work. So I sent him the BM239 and a check.

In return, I got the product shown here! I had ChuckG polish/sharpen the blade. He only does aluminum handles on the re-handle jobs. The handles are longer than normal to include the latch gate. I was afraid the very light weight would make manipulation difficult, but I believe the longer handles add just enough weight to counteract that. It is a smooth operator.
